Welcome to Youth-Arts-Forum.com

Youth Arts Forum(YAF) is a not-for-profit 501c3 charity organization founded in 1990 by Barry Salottolo. Youth Arts Forum was formed as an alternative to the decline of the more formal school art and music programs that were being eliminated at the time, and continues to be eliminated in even greater numbers today. YAF provides talented young artists and performers with a healthy and engaging outlet that allows them to express their creativity in art and musical performances. YAF aims to provide a vehicle to “unite the youth of the world through the arts”.

YAF supports its visual and performing artists to help them express themselves, enhance self esteem, and keep their personal dreams alive. This unique and exciting arrangement provides young artists’ a national and international venue that is exclusively dedicated the young artist and his or her work.
  • For the performing artist, YAF has held several “Kids Helping Kids” concerts in New York City, New Jersey, Vermont and at 32 Simon Malls. Concert location shave included The Studio at Webster Hall, Arlene’s Grocery, National Underground, Slate, the Beekman Beer Garden and the Bitter End in New York City as well as The Stone Pony in New Jersey and many more locations up and down the East Coast.YAF pays for the venues, marketing, advertising and production. When possible, YAF helps to pay for travel and lodging of many of the young performing artists who participate in our concerts.

  • For the visual artist, YAF distributes arts supplies to those who may not be able to afford them. YAF collects and frames for display much of the artwork received from its members. The organization has supported numerous gallery shows designed to professionally display and support young artists from across the country. Several of these shows were held in the prestigious NOHO Art Gallery on Mercer Street in New York City. The artwork is also displayed on our award-winning website, http://youthartsinfo.com/.
Merchandise and Donations: Youth Arts Forum works with national and local charity organizations including the Food Bank for New York City, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York, County Harvestand T.J.’s Friends, and donates a portion of all proceeds. As of June 2012, Youth Arts Forum has partnered with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundationand is planning several upcoming events in partnership with this organization.

In addition, we have established relationships with major retailers like Amazon and Queensboro Clothing to offer great deals. A percentage of these sales go back to Youth Arts Forum to help fund the work we do for young visual and performing artists.

Youth Arts Forum is accepting donations to help fund future concerts, artist sponsorships and productions, framing and displays, as well as all expenses that are associated with supporting and producing the talents of the young artist.

Youth Arts Forum is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1990 by Barry Salottolo. Youth Arts Forum collects and displays the artwork of young artists from around the country and around the world.

The variety of gallery shows and other creative venues we arrange allow for the young artists to have their work displayed. The artist will have his or her profile attached to their work and the art will be displayed in various venues, as well as featured on our award-winning website www.YouthArtsForum.Org. There are various events that highlight the best of YAF throughout the year and announcements will be made as these events are setup.

Since one of the major objectives of Youth Arts Forum is to project a keen awareness of the contribution of our young artists to the world, YAF donates a minimum of 10% of any proceeds to local and international organizations that help children in the areas of hunger, disease control and education

For the performing artists, i.e. musicians, bands, singers, dancers, actors and more, submissions are made in video form and, if warranted, displayed on our website for the world to enjoy. The artists performances are displayed at various arts shows, malls, local TV stations and more.  As with everything that Youth Arts forum does, a minimum of 10% of all proceeds is donated to children’s organizations.

This unique and exciting arrangement affords the young artists’ a national and international venue that is exclusively dedicated to the Young Artist and his or her work.  It is fast becoming a beacon of the best the young artist has to offer. We are excited and delighted to have you come and grow with us.

YAF is excited to announce that we are a proud sponsor of the SIX VOLT 2010 summer tour along with Shuffleboard Records and PRS Guitars. Youth Arts Forum works with several groups, musicians throughout the year to sponsor and produce their songs.

Youth Arts Forum is accepting all donations to help fund concerts, artist sponsorships and productions, framing and displays, as well as all expenses that are associated with supporting and producing the talents of the young artist. Local Teen Band Announced As Semi Finalist In
SchoolJam USA Teen Battle of the Bands Competition

Teen Battle of the Bands Contest Aimed at Encouraging Music Making Among Teens and
Helping School Music Programs

[Hicksville, New York], October 29, 2010,— The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has announced that MOTP (aka Members of the Press) from Hicksville Middle School has advanced to the online Semi-Finals round of the 2010-2011 SchoolJam USA teen battle of the bands competition.

Starting Nov. 1, MOTP will be featured along with 47 other teen bands from across the United States at www.schooljamusa.com, where people from the general public are encouraged to vote for their favorite band. Online voting will run through Nov. 30, and 10 finalist bands will be announced Dec. 5.

The nationwide contest, sponsored by NAMM, is designed to encourage teen bands across the United States to demonstrate their musical talents and enjoy the many proven benefits of making music.

If MOTP is voted as one of the 10 finalists, it will be invited to perform live along with nine other band finalists at the SchoolJam USA Finals, held during the NAMM Show, one of the largest musical products exhibitions in the world, on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2010, in Downtown Disney located in Anaheim, Calif.
Reinforcing the competition’s mission to encourage active music making among teenagers, all of the 10 finalist bands will receive prize money to purchase new gear for their band from a local NAMM Member music products retailer of their choice, as well as additional funding for their school music programs. The winning band will also travel to Europe next year to perform at the 2011 SchoolJam Germany finals in Frankfurt.
“NAMM not only supports music education programs, but believes strongly in the passion young adults have for playing music,” said Joe Lamond, NAMM president and CEO. “As we begin our second year of this national teen band competition, we are looking forward to providing a continued outlet for young adults to showcase their talent, which we hope will inspire others to pick up an instrument and discover the many benefits of playing music.”
MOTP (aka Members of the Press) is made up of four middle schoolers from the Long Island town of Hicksville, New York.   The band has been together for about five years, having started out playing talent shows in Old Country Road Elementary School.  The band comprises brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario, on guitar and drums, respectively, bass player Thomas Murphy, and keyboard player Danny Ayala.  Both Brian and Michael have active careers as actors, having appeared on Broadway and in various television and film projects.  All the band members have been playing music and participating in school music programs from a young age.  MOTP has built up a following on YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK.  They have also been featured twice on the alternative punk/rock band My Chemical Romance’s official website for their exciting interpretation of MCR’s song "DEAD."   They were the WINNERS of the MCR youtube cover contest and were awarded a guitar signed by the band, and were also one of the winners of the Town of Oyster Bay Talent Competition in 2010.   MOTP has played many notable venues across the Long Island, New York, and New Jersey area, and, importantly, has donated many hours of performance time for the benefit of charitable causes, such as breast cancer, pediatric cancer, feeding the homeless, and autism.   Their original music can be heard @ MOTP myspace.

SchoolJam USA is also hosting a Field Reporter Contest. Are you a fantastic teen field reporter and want to attend the SchoolJam USA finals in Anaheim, Calif. and display your journalistic talents? Find out more information and enter the competition Nov. 1 – Nov. 30, 2010 at www.schoojamusa.com.
SchoolJam is an established music initiative, originally developed by MusikMedia Germany to promote popular and rock music in schools throughout Germany. The program has provided thousands of music-loving young adults with the opportunity to perform and network with their peers, increasing their love for playing music and encouraging them to become active musicians.
In the United States, NAMM has collaborated with MENC, Music For All and the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to develop SchoolJam USA, following two successful years of SchoolJam Texas, produced by NAMM and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) in 2007 and 2008, in conjunction with the original SchoolJam in Germany. The SchoolJam USA competition is sponsored by NAMM, the not-for-profit association of the international music products industry, and its promotional partners SchoolJamMENC: the National Association for Music Education, Music For All, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and InTune Monthly magazine.
About NAMM
The National Association of Music Merchants, commonly called NAMM in reference to the organization's popular NAMM trade shows, is the not-for-profit association that unifies, leads and strengthens the $17 billion global musical instruments and products industry. NAMM is the sponsor of the Wanna Play? campaign, a public awareness initiative designed to get more people connected with the proven benefits of playing music. PRS Guitars, Youth Arts Forum, & Shuffleboard Records present:
Youth Rock Live!
A Simon Malls Performance Featuring
SIX VOLT
With Special Guest Whitney Kelly

New York, NY – (May 10, 2010) – SIX VOLT, the young, fresh, and incredibly talented band from New Jersey, is proud to announce the dates of their Summer 2010 tour.  The band plays and records all of their music, every note, and will be taking the stage to perform LIVE in 22 cities beginning on May 31st.  They are currently in their Red Bank, NJ studio finalizing their self-titled album, due to release September 14th  and the celebrated first single, “MIND ON ME,” is available digitally on June 1st. Besides their remarkable talent and community esteem, SIX VOLT is highly respected for their charitable ways - 5% of the band’s income goes to the homeless and causes that help the environment.

Six Volt will headline the entire tour, aptly titled “YOUTH ROCK LIVE!” The shows will take place at various Simon Malls in the Tri-State area and has already lined up sponsors in Shuffleboard Records and The Youth Arts Forum, who will be the official presenters of the event.  Paul Reed Smith Guitars, www.prsguitars.com has also joined the tour as a sponsor and SIX VOLT will be giving away (1) PRS SE model guitar to a lucky fan at each of their 22 Simon Mall shows. Granger Whitelaw, Jr. who is on the Artist roster at PRS plays a custom PRS McCarty made by Paul himself. “I will play this guitar until I am buried with it,” said Granger. “It is the Stradivarius of guitars and has tones only found in a PRS.” Paul Smith, Founder of PRS says, “I met Granger about 2 years ago and have seen him grow musically. We are honored to support him as a player and SIX VOLT.”

Each date features special opening act and talented musician, Whitney Kelly, also a New Jersey native (Tinton Falls).  Kelly will open for SIX VOLT as well as play during the bands break so they can get out and meet the fans. “This tour is very exciting,” says Whitney. “With thousands of fans on YouTube.com, Facebook and MySpace the tour will give me a chance to meet many of them while working with a great band, for a good cause.” Whitney has performed live at many venues including PNC Art Center, Liberty State Park, Manhattan Children's Museum and the Count Basie Theater. She also recently completed a music video with Jake T. Austin from Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place for her original song “Watching Over You.”

SIX VOLT, respected as a young band that plays all their music without any professional backup musicians, includes members Nichole Deppe (Vocals), Granger Whitelaw, Jr. (Guitar), Joe Cilento (Guitar), Jake Wood (Bass), and Robby Wood (Drums). The band’s fresh sound and talent has earned them high esteem in the Tri-State area and their audience is quickly expanding. In addition, their charitable ways are proof of Six Volt’s strong foundation and even stronger potential for success in the future.
